Wilbur J. "Jack" MYERS
Company B
692th Tank Destroyer Battalion

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE SIR

Bastogne, December 13, 2014.
Meet and greet at the Bastogne Barracks

Wilbur "Jack" Myers of Williamsport drafted into the army at 18, he was shipped overseas in September 1944 as a member of the 692nd Tank Destroyer Battalion. He fought at the Battle of Antwerp in Holland and the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. Redeployed to southern France, he drove into Germany, up past the concentration camp in Dachau and on to Munich. Jack returned home in October 1945 with a Bronze Star Medal and a story too difficult to tell. “When I first came back … [I] didn’t talk about it much. As time goes on, I can talk about it. After a while, time changes you somewhat,” he admits. Today Jack speaks warmly of sharing his war experiences for the VHP and with students.
